About the event:
The Second World Summit for Social Development will be held in Doha, Qatar, from 4 to 6 November 2025. This summit commemorates the 30th anniversary of the 1995 Copenhagen Summit and addresses global challenges, including inequality, demographic change, and technological developments. The Summit centers on the pillars of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development — poverty eradication, full employment, and decent work, as well as social inclusion — engaging world leaders, civil society, and stakeholders to foster cooperation and inclusive policies. More information on the event can be found here.
Session Overview
This 90-minute virtual side event, titled “Families at the Core: Driving Resilience, Inclusion, and Sustainable Futures: European Strategies for Stronger Families and Stronger Societies Worldwide”, will highlight how strong family support systems and innovative early childhood practices contribute to healthier, more resilient future generations. Every nation’s policy supporting children and families impacts broader issues such as decent work, employment, poverty eradication, and economic stability. The well-being of families directly influences the overall health of each nation, especially in times when the demographic issues are high on many countries’ agendas. We sincerely hope that opening a dialogue and learning from one another about policies, working models, and practices will be an effective approach with a lasting impact. Drawing on proven European community-based models, speakers will examine how empowering parents and engaging local communities directly benefit children’s development and well-being. The discussion will thoughtfully assess existing approaches while showcasing innovative practices that inspire adaptation and improvement in diverse contexts. By sharing scalable models that integrate policy, practice, and community involvement, the session will encourage global collaboration to strengthen families as a cornerstone of sustainable development. Our hope is that participants will leave with actionable ideas and policy recommendations to better support families and children worldwide.
